Dr. Mahnaz MomeniDr. Mahnaz Momeni, M.D.

Mahnaz Momeni, M.D., is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine. She is also a subject matter expert in application of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. She is a  co-founder of Arthritis and Rheumatology Clinical Center of Northern Virginia.

She served as a full- time faculty from 2005 to 2015 in Division of Rheumatology at The George Washington University.

While treating patients at GW Medical Center, Dr. Momeni directed the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound laboratory in Rheumatology Division and implemented MSK ultrasound curriculum in the rheumatology fellowship program. In addition, she was a coordinator of Rheumatology ICM (Introduction to Clinical Medicine) course for Medical Students at the GWU.

She practiced medicine as an internist at GWH and VA Hospital Emergency Room in Washington DC for years  before starting rheumatology Fellowship program.

She has served on different committees of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) contributing to develop Musculoskeletal Ultrasound certification for the first time in the United States. She has lectured nationally and internationally on this topic. She is among the first physicians in the country to achieve certification from the American College of Rheumatology in Rheumatologic Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography (RhMSUS).

She completed her Fellowship training in Rheumatic Diseases at the George Washington University in 2005. Internal Medicine Internship and Residency was served at the Howard University School of Medicine.

Dr. Momeni is Board Certified in Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. She is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and a member of the Rheumatism Society of the District of Columbia.

Dr. Momeni has authored several publications in rheumatic diseases.
