Dr. Mahsa Tehrani is a board-certified rheumatologist and co-founder of the Arthritis and Rheumatology Clinical Center of Northern Virginia — the first dedicated group rheumatology practice in the Tysons Corner area. She is also a nationally recognized medical expert and frequent guest on Fox News, where she provides expert commentary on trending health topics including autoimmune diseases, joint pain management, long COVID, medical AI, supplement safety, inflammation, neurodegenerative diseases, and preventative wellness. Her ability to translate complex medical research into clear, actionable information has made her a trusted voice in national media.
A Northern Virginia native, Dr. Tehrani graduated cum laude from George Washington University with degrees in Biology and Psychology, and was inducted into the Psi Chi honor society. She went on to complete a Master’s in Physiology and Complementary and Alternative Medicine at Georgetown University, gaining in-depth knowledge of natural health practices. She was awarded a research training fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where she conducted oncology research at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
Dr. Tehrani earned her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine and a two-year fellowship in Rheumatology at GWU. During her training, she received the Baldridge Physician of the Month Award and pursued specialized instruction in musculoskeletal ultrasound, earning the RhMSUS certification from the American College of Rheumatology — a distinction awarded to a select group of rheumatologists.
Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Blood and the International Journal of Rheumatology.
Dr. Tehrani has a longstanding commitment to patient education and integrative wellness. She served as the Rheumatology Expert Contributor for EverydayHealth.com, writing for the “Arthritis and You” column. In recognition of her work, she was a 2024 award recipient and nominee by the Arthritis Foundation for outstanding service in patient care and advocacy.
Dr. Tehrani has also been repeatedly recognized by her peers for clinical excellence. She has been named a “Top Doctor” by Washingtonian magazine in consecutive years and has received multiple “Top Doctor” honors from Northern Virginia Magazine, underscoring her dedication to outstanding rheumatologic care in the region.
She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, the DC Rheumatism Society, and the American Medical Association.
